About Prof. Kapoor
I am someone who thinks best by building, questioning, and revising – whether that’s an idea, a system, or a piece of writing that almost works but not quite yet. I’m motivated by curiosity and a strong sense of responsibility to use knowledge well, especially when decisions affect real people. I care deeply about professional and student mentorship – we should always be lifting each other up. Intellectual honesty and making complex ideas accessible without flattening them are the core of my work – research, writing, and teaching should be accessible to the widest audience. My work is shaped by the belief that seriousness and humanity are not opposites, and that good institutions are built by people willing to think carefully, listen closely, and act with intention.
I am a practitioner-scholar whose academic work spans teaching and learning in higher education, artificial intelligence, and democratic institutions. As an Instructor of Mathematics and Associate Director of the Center for Academic Excellence at Fairfield University, I focus on how faculty design meaningful, rigorous learning experiences in an AI-enabled environment – particularly around assessment, academic integrity, and deep learning. My research and public-facing work also examine electoral systems, democratic participation, and institutional design, using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods to bridge theory and policy. Across these domains, my work is driven by a commitment to translating scholarship into practice and ensuring that innovation serves human judgment rather than replacing it.
